What is 3D Secure (3DS) and how does it work?

3D Secure (3DS) is an additional layer of authentication designed to improve the security of online payments ad reduce fraud and chargebacks.

It acts as a security protocol between the cardholder, the bank and the customer to reduce fraud and ensure the legitimacy of the transaction.

When you make an online purchase using a 3D Secure-enabled card, you may be prompted to verify your identity with a password or a code sent by your bank (such as a one-time passcode). This extra step helps confirm that the transaction is being made by the rightful cardholder.
